April Kindt

Regional Chef, Brigaid

A Culinary Institute of America graduate with over 20 years of experience in the food service industry, April Kindt is currently a Regional Chef for Brigaid, a company that pairs talented and motivated chefs with schools and other institutional food service operations to help them achieve their goals.

One of five chefs placed into New London Public Schools’ kitchens in 2016, April trained and worked with existing food service staff to cook fresh, wholesome food from scratch for the district’s 3,600 students. The success of the New London pilot led New York City Public Schools to launch its own Brigaid program in 2018, where she spearheaded the transition of two schools in The Bronx to scratch cooking.

During the spring of 2020, April began working with Encore Community Services, another Brigaid partner, which provides care and service to the senior population of Midtown Manhattan. Since then she has worked with Encore’s food service team to increase organization and efficiency, as they doubled their production of meals for delivery to homebound seniors.

April serves as a leader and mentor to Brigaid’s team of chefs and is currently working on the continued development of Brigaid’s training program, which is soon to be launched in Denver Public Schools.
