About The Lunch Box

  • Why do I need to register to use the site?

Registration is required to access downloadable tools and resources. We ask for this information so that we can track our user base and content use. This information is important so that we can secure funding to keep The Lunch Box up-to-date and free for all schools to use.

  • How is The Lunch Box connected to the Chef Ann Foundation?

The Lunch Box is a program of the Chef Ann Foundation, which operates and manages The Lunch Box website and related content.

  • Does the Chef Ann Foundation offer other programs?

In addition to The Lunch Box, we operate a number of other programs and grants:

    • Get Schools Cooking
    • Salad Bars in Schools
    • School Food Institute

You can learn more about our Programs and Grants here. Also check out the Parent Advocacy Toolkit for information on how to work with your school or district to make lasting change in the lunchroom.

  • Why do we only work with schools that are part of the National School Lunch Program?

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) enables schools to serve meals at free and reduced rates to students in need. Because we believe all children - no matter their family’s economic standing - should have access to healthy school meals, we have designed our programs to align with the NSLP. Keep in mind that much of the operational information found on The Lunch Box is also relevant to non-NSLP schools and districts.

  • How is The Lunch Box funded?

The Lunch Box is funded through partnerships and grants. We partner with other organizations and supporters who also believe in healthy school food, and are always open to new opportunities.
