What Are Bulk Meal Packs?
A bulk meal pack is a box full of a week’s worth of food and ingredients — including fresh produce, milk, and breakfast items — that schools can offer families during emergencies. Families can pick up the bulk meal packs at a single location and cook meals at home.
Bulk meal packs can alleviate labor challenges during emergencies — it takes less time to package bulk ingredients than it does to prepare and cool individual entrees then package for remote feeding.
All ingredients included in the box meet USDA nutrition guidelines for seven days’ worth of complete breakfast and lunch requirements. Recipes should be easy for families to prepare.
